Benefits of Orgasm

Benefits of Orgasm

Great to know that having orgasms, even on your own, have significant benefits to your health, relationships and well-being, and what’s more, it’s fun. So here just a few ways how sex and solo-sex can support your life…

Promote better sleep
Scientists at the University of Ottawa in Canada, suggest that sex could be an alternative treatment for insomnia, as during orgasm, your body releases numerous chemicals, including oxytocin, serotonin (the happy hormones), norepinephrine, vasopressin and prolactin that can improve your RAM cycle and help your body to relax and fell asleep more easily and deeply.

Relieve stress
The Mail and Metro report that orgasm is a natural stress relieve and can help bring you deep relaxation by reducing your cortisol (the stress hormone) and by boosting levels of oxytocin (that is responsible for feeling more relaxed, warmer and happier), serotonin (a key ingredient in many anti-depressants, e.g. Prozac) and prolactin (which has overall relaxing effect, as mentioned before)
Another study found that your stress levels can stay down for as much as two weeks after an orgasm.

Alleviate pain
The Sun claims that, a study by the University of Munster, Germany, found that that orgasms can be ten times more effective than regular painkillers.
Everyday Health mentions a research that has found that the release of endorphins and corticosteroids during this peak expeience, can reduce variety of pain symptoms, such as headaches, joint pains and, for women, menstrual cramps.

Help look healthier and younger
Dr Gall in her interview to Metro, stipulates that having sex increases blood and oxygen flow, that can assist in tissue repair and stimulate collagen production, a protein important for maintaining the appearance of your skin.
As orgasms can improve sleep and decreased levels of stress, that also helps you look younger and more fresh.
Health Online adds that it also improves complexion and resistance to wrinkles by increasing skin thickness and production of estrogen, that strengthens skin elastic fibres and locks in the skin’s moisture.

Strengthen immune system and heart health
The Sun, writes that 2004 research proved that those who have sex three or more times a week have 30% higher levels of immunoglobin-A (a disease-fighting antibody) than those who only have it twice or less.
Another study mentioned by Everyday health, found that regular orgasms decrease risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Orgasm can help you live longer
Another benefit, is decrease in dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) levels responsible for muscle strength, bone density, body fat, sexual satisfaction, and overall well-being.
In 1997, scientists in Wales conducted a large research and concluded that “sexual activity seems to have a protective effect on men’s health”, while Howard S. Friedman, PhD, and author of “The Longevity Project” discovered that women who had frequent orgasms tended to live longer than those who admitted being less sexually satisfied.

Stimulate your brain
The Sun describes a research that found that having regular sex generates more cells in the hippocampus, the area of brain that is responsible for learning and memory.
Rutgers researchers Barry Komisaruk and Nan Wise proved even solo-sex increases blood flow to all parts of the brain and flow of nutrients and oxygenation, that stimulates brain activity and health overall.

Feel happier
Orgasms release ‘feel good’ hormones such as oxytocin, serotonin and endorphin, supporting you in feeling happier and leading higher quality of life.
Improve your relationships with yourself and others
So, orgasms helps you feel happier, healthier and less stressed. That alone will improve your relationships.
Having solo-sex is also an investment into your love, as getting aware of your likes and dislikes will help you to communicate better with your partner.
Having an action with someone else is even more powerful. Not only you produce more of those beneficial chemicals, it also tends to improve your intimacy, trust and bring you closer together.

Enjoy…
Love, Surya
